Membership
African Democracy Forum (ADF) is a regional network launched in Abuja, Nigeria in October 2000. It comprises civil society organisations, media institutions, community based organisations and academic institutions that work on democracy, democratic research, protection of human rights, upholding the rule of law and promoting good governance through the twin principles of transparency and accountability in the African continent. ADF also acts as a platform for mutual support and sharing of resources for over 450 organisations and individuals.
WHY JOIN THE AFRICAN DEMOCRACY FORUM?
Organisations Member Benefits include:
- ADF will work closely with member organisations and external stakeholders in the advocacy and lobbying of regional, sub-regional and national issues aimed at promotion of democracy and upholding of human rights.
- Members will on a regular basis receive copies of various publications published by ADF as well as have the opportunity to have their organisations profiled in the publications and other information tools.
- Members will receive updates and information on democracy and human rights related issues in Africa through the monthly online newsletter; African Democracy in Focus as well as regular updates via mailing list servers.
- Members are incorporated into the ADF membership database which serves as a useful networking and information sharing tool.
- Representatives of member organisations have voting rights in the ADF General Assembly as well as the right to contest for positions in the Management Committee and help steer the direction of the organisation.
- Member organisations benefit from trainings and workshops held by ADF as well as other stakeholders on a wide range of issues including advocacy, capacity building and resource mobilization among others.
- ADF member organisations have the opportunity to host and coordinate ADF activities in their respective countries.
Individual Member Benefits include:
- Regular updates of Human Rights and Democracy related issues in Africa through the monthly online newsletter; African Democracy in Focus and via the mailing list servers.
- Copies of ADF publications to serve as tools for information and education purposes.
- Members can contribute articles for ADF publications and the website.
