ADF Statement on Zimbabwe Protests

The African Democracy Forum is concerned about the ongoing protests in Zimbabwe and the use of force by the military against civilians. On January 14th 2019, Pastor Evan Mawarire, a renowned Harare pastor, urged Zimbabwean nationals to stay at home and peacefully protest the hiked fuel prices. Protestors expressed demur over the country’s collapsing economy, dollar shortages and rocketing inflation that is increasing the cost of living for average Zimbabweans.

International Day of Human Rights Statement

The Africa Democracy Forum joins the world in celebrating International Human Rights Day marking the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This day is to recognize everyone’s efforts engaged in fighting for human rights and its preservation, and also to call upon everyone to be aware of his/her rights to avoid any manipulation or abuse of rights.

ADF Statement on Zimbabwe Post-Elections

Kigali, 2nd August, 2018

The African Democracy Forum has learned with dismay, the worrisome prevalence of post parliamentary and presidential election-related violence which took place in Harare, Zimbabwe, between opposition protesters and security forces, whereby 3 unidentified people were killed and others wounded. The ADF condemns such acts of violence which are hostile to the holding of democratic elections.
